Youth and Adult Automotive Training Center (YAATC) Program Overview

Background
The Ford Youth and Adult Automotive Training Center (YAATC) Program began in 1999 as an initiative sponsored by Ford Motor Company to train youth and young adults 18 and older in the area of automotive technology.  The goal of the Ford YAATC Program from its inception has been to provide economically disadvantaged individuals an opportunity to acquire life skills and entry-level automotive repair training to increase the likelihood of employment.

Life Skills Training
Each YAATC location offers focused job-readiness and life-skills training. Topics may include resume writing, practice job interviews, overcoming obstacles, conflict resolution, phone skills and other topics to fit the local need.

• Training in five areas of basic automotive repair: 

- Electrical
- Steering & Suspension
- Base Brakes
- Climate Control
- Tire, Chassis & Maintenance

• Receive training delivered by Ford-trained certified instructors.
• Earn up to 100% of Ford Quick Lane technical training.
• Graduate with Ford developed Service Technician Specialty Training (STST).
• Obtain an employment advantage by obtaining a YAATC certificate.

Conclusion
As designed, the YAATC Program can make a difference in an individual's life.  Graduates of the YAATC program obtain skills that increases their potential to gain employment. Ford Motor Company is striving to make a difference in the communities that the YAATC Program serves.
